[BRAWL 2018] HEADLOOSE
An awe-inspiring defiance of death leads to a whole head of trouble for our level-headed hero.

Youtube @TheRealSonjira I consider it a personal defeat if my pee is not perfectly clear every time.]

[BRAWL 2018] HEADLOOSE
An awe-inspiring defiance of death leads to a whole head of trouble for our level-headed hero.

I haven't laughed this hard watching a brickfilm since 2017's THAC XIV classic THE BATHTUB CHALLENGE.
Yet another weird but very amusing brickfilm, what else would one expect from Sonjira. ![]()
This is one of my favourite entries that I've seen so far. I've watched it twice now, and laughed through the entire thing both times. Just the idea of minifigures walking around with just a head is hilarious to me
You really pulled off the comedic animation perfectly, and a fantastic cast elevated the comedy even more. This is a 5/5 from me! ![]()
Thank you all so much, I'm so glad you all enjoyed it so much!
It was definitely an interesting challenge trying to animate characters that were just heads. Lego is already so limited in poseability as it is, having just a head is an even bigger challenge to try and stay expressive. On top of that is the heads tendency to not want to sit on a stud when it's tilted, so all that sticky tac was a big help!

In my opinion, this is absolutely your best film to date. Super entertaining and well-animated throughout. The visual humour with the heads was great. I am glad to have been a small part of this, and I hope it does well.
Wow, the character animation in this is outstanding. These so much personality put into these plastic people.
Sonjira at the top of his game. Told in your "voice" as an auteur, and also a self contained and concise epic. The bigness of it, the number of locations and characters, the world created from the scenes. Some really nice face replacement animation, and just the overall surrealism really made great use of the medium.
YOWZA that was so kind of all three of you, I love me some replacement head animation, glad I got more use out of the "head" part in particular, heeheeh. You all are way to nice to lil ol Sonji ♥

Art dies, memes are forever ✊

Ah, the winner of BRAWL 2018, and my personal favorite entry.
This film is fantastic, and I attribute it mostly to its very distinct and unique voice that radiates from the first frames. As I said in the results chat, there are very few other brickfilmers who have as much of a fully realized style. From the animation to the writing to the voice acting, all these things work so synergistically to create this voice. The silliness has a hyper-sincerity that could come across as annoying but never does, and very few have managed to pull off.
Onto the film itself, I was laughing to the point of tears from beginning to end. The idea of minifigures being able to pull off body parts is nothing new to brickfilming, but HEADLOOSE makes it feel fresh by treating it like a discovery and a subsequent craze. And this leads into why it was exactly what I was looking for with the theme “kairos.” The idea of how crucial one moment can be, and the ramifications of it. And this entry more than any other nailed that.
Congrats on the win, bud. I’m looking forward to what other crazy shenanigans you come up with next.
Thank you so much for the kind words Chris, really hitting me in my big pink centerfolds
. I'm really glad that the "kairos" aspect went over well, it was definitely one of the elements I was most nervous about coming across. It's obviously a huge turning point in the plot, but whether or not it set itself up and paid off well was a big point of concern as I was filming. Happy that at least to a few, it made some semblance of logical sense ![]()
